Steki Taverna, a popular Greek restaurant Sydney in Newtown, is a lively and traditional Greek place that wins over locals due to its laid-back ambiance. After all, it’s named after the Greek tavernas that dot the countryside. Consider a taverna to be a kind of ancient British pub from Greece. Steki has been in business for more than three decades, and it’s one of the few Newtown establishments from that era that has managed to stand the test of time.

Key Differentiators:

  • Quality of traditional Greek pub food
  • Serves local and international beers
  • Professional staff

Customer’s Review:

Try the lamb, it’s the best in the city. The calamari and octopus are delicious too. As for the atmosphere? You’d have to fly to Greece to match it. Opa!

Alpha, one of the most well-known Greek restaurants Sydney, is located on Bridge Road. Just this year, the restaurant has reopened following a complete remodel. Peter Conistis was instrumental in reopening the place, and it now offers new cuisine with old favorites retained. The enormous spanakopita is one of the most famous dishes in the kitchen, as is moussaka, which is carefully built with eggplant, seared sea scallops, and taramosalata.

Key Differentiators:

  • Best local ingredients
  • Offers dining vouchers
  • Private room dining

Customer’s Review:

Stunningly beautiful restaurant with food and service to match. The staff is quite attentive. It’s the best Greek food I’ve ever had and the cocktails are exquisite. The O.G.G. is my new favourite.

Despite the fact that Marrickville is no longer what it was, the Corinthian Rotisserie still flies the Greek flag high. The meals are enormous, and the grilled haloumi and deep-fried baby squid are best enjoyed with plates of dolmades and octopus tentacles. It’s everything you’d expect from a traditional Greek restaurant, crammed with the right fragrances of slow-cooked beef, fresh cheese, and crisp, nutty pastries.

Key Differentiators:

  • Traditional Greek restaurant
  • Homecooked-style
  • Affordable pricing

Customer’s Review:

Best Greek food in Sydney. Has been operating since 1962. Our go to place with friends and family visiting from overseas and interstate. Will be back very soon hopefully.

This long-standing CBD restaurant, a short walk from Queen Victoria Building, is a fantastic choice when you’re feeling like you need to err on the side of nutrition because many of the traditional Greek foods at Medusa Greek Taverna are created with the Mediterranean diet in mind. There are indulgences, but on the whole, this restaurant, which was created by veteran chef Peter Koutsopoulos, is focused on a brighter and lighter Greek cuisine.

Key Differentiators:

  • Cater for up to 60 guests per group
  • Very social nature of Greek eating and drinking
  • Quick serving

Customer’s Review:

We found this Greek restaurant Sdyney from google review and really glad we choose it. The atmosphere is very good, the same as the food we had. Definitely will recommend it to my friends and family. Will go back and try other dishes later.

Barzaari is a Marrickville restaurant that, while it offers Greek cuisine – with a particular fondness for Cypriot tastes with several dashes of Middle Eastern – qualifies for this list of the top Greek restaurant Sydney because there are enough Greece-based features to merit its inclusion. You may serve a meal in several distinct ways, with portions surprisingly generous for the cheap price and consistency as important as the subtle, unobtrusive service.

Key Differentiators:

  • Family-run eatery
  • Eastern Mediterranean, Cypriot dishes
  • Big serving size

Customer’s Review:

I loved this place and can’t wait to go again. The quality of the food and flavours was outstanding! We had the smoked eggplant, pickled octopus, king prawn, and lamb souvla. Everything was amazing!

Operating HoursMon – Thurs: 5:30pm – late
Fri – Sun: 12pm – late

The Apollo is the best place to go for Greek food in Sydney. No other Greek restaurant in the area has built a benchmark for anybody looking to explore the Mediterranean chain from saganaki to baklava and is considered by many visitors to be superior to any rival. In reality, you might just order up a few rounds of the saganaki and be done with it.

Key Differentiators:

  • Contemporary Greek-style restaurant
  • Mediterranean hospitality
  • All dishes are designed for sharing

Customer’s Review:

A great experience. Greek food is not usually my first choice so I was pleasantly surprised. We had the full Greek menu option and reserved the private room. The portions were both large and really tasty. There was lots of variety and the service was great. Really impressed.

7) Stix & Pita

Key ServiceCooked over organic, natural charcoal
AddressShop 3, 216 Enmore Rd, (cnr Edgeware Rd) Enmore NSW 2042

Fri: 5:00pm – 9:30pm
Sat: 4:00pm – 9:30pm
Sun: 4:00pm – 8:30pm

Souvla is something you’ll make a beeline for at Stix & Pita. The Slow-Cooked Meat of the Day is a great example of this. You can choose between chicken, pork, or lamb, and then pick a filling from an extensive list that’s baked inside some wonderfully soft pita bread. It’s less formal than some of the other sit-down restaurants on this list, but the kitchen is usually so nifty with their stuffed pitas that it’d be a shame to miss out on this Enmore favorite when looking for Sydney’s best Greek food.

Key Differentiators:

  • All ingredients are sustainable and sourced from local businesses
  • Premium juicy pork
  • Cooked over organic, natural charcoal

Customer’s Review:

Wow, wow, wow! Come hungry and ready to feast. Meat is perfection. Portions are just right and priced well. We will be back and spreading the good word.
