Taipei may be the world’s bubble tea capital, but Malaysia is right on its tail, with some of the greatest varieties of the trendy beverage.

Just walk down one of the streets in Subang Jaya’s SS15, Klang Valley, and you’ll see what we’re talking about: an entire row of bubble tea shops, competing side by side.

From bubble tea hotpot to waffles and cakes, Malaysia has an obsession with the little tapioca spheres in milk tea. Major home-grown and Taiwanese bubble tea chains have dominated the scene, and if you’re looking for some of these in KL or Selangor, check out the list below!

But before you delve into the list, let’s check out our amazing and fun team building activities:

1. Tiger Sugar

One of the best bubble tea joints in KL and Selangor is none other than the Tiger Sugar! The story of Tiger Sugar began in Taichung, Taiwan in 2017 November. Back before Tiger Sugar was born, Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk was just any other drink on the menu of a traditional dessert shop. Until 11 November 2017, the founder of Tiger Sugar, Mr. Yang, took a huge leap of faith and rebranded the drink into Tiger Sugar. Today, Tiger Sugar is proudly serving millions of customers with more than 100 outlets across 21 countries around the globe as of April 2021.

Tiger Sugar is not just an ordinary milk tea. It is a sophisticated dessert beverage crafted with traditional Taiwan brown sugar. But why the name Tiger Sugar? Of course, it has to do with its drinks’ unique presentation – the cups are coated with brown sugar which resembles the stripes of a tiger when milk is poured in.

Key Differentiators

  • Firstly, Tiger Sugar has always believed in serving the best beverage possible. Only fresh and high-quality ingredients are used to craft the beverages, of which no creamer is used.
  • Secondly, Tiger Sugar’s menu is kept simple to highlight its signature Tiger Brown Sugar, which is made up of four types of Taiwanese brown sugar. Brown Sugar is not only the flavour of traditional Taiwan but also rich in minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients. It also provides a nostalgic taste of Taiwan.
  • Thirdly, Tiger Sugar’s vision is to be closely in tune with their customers’ feelings and to always be there to brighten their daily lives. Hence, they are constantly innovating and creating new flavours to suit the taste of the customers.

Client Testimonial

Make sure you shake 15 times! Authentic taiwanese brown sugar pearl milk. Signature brown sugar Boba milk with cream mouse. The more you shake, the more authentic the flavor and more ‘qq’ the pearls.

Super chewy pearls, comes in large and small sizes. You get both chewy larger size bobas and smaller pellet size pearls. The black sugar essentially is gula melaka mixed with milk and cream. Pretty nice! Similar quality as Taiwan and Hong Kong

Expect a queue as there are many people that order in bulk

Lovely selection of teas which are hand blended into all manner of drinks. You can even adjust the amount of sweetener used for your choice of brew as well.

Place is still a relaxing visit despite the ongoing MCO ruling and you can do a takeaway on the drink of your choice and walk around the area to explore new places that open up despite the poor economic climate.

Daboba have always been my favourite Boba chain compare to other places. This specific outlet is also the same. They are able to maintain their quality of drinks and also service. This outlet in Setapak, has spacious space to sit-in and they also have a 2nd floor! However, currently they closed it due to MCO I guess.
