Combat Archery Tag; an activity that fulfills every gamers’ dream of raining arrows down on their opponents like the archers seen in video games, and every geeks’ dream of eliminating their opponents like Katniss Everdeen or Robin Hood.
Combat Archery Tag is a safe and painless activity that utilizes archery with special foam tipped arrows; it can also be played in both indoors and outdoors. Combining elements of dodgeball, paintball, and archery; this thrilling, fast-paced game is designed to get your adrenaline pumping and heart-rate racing!
There’s nothing as satisfying as shooting a bow and drilling a bull’s eye, or simply executing a good shot and watching your arrow fly.
However for some, they find it hard to ace at this game. Thus to help them experience this feeling, we’ve put together a cheat sheet consisting of 6 ways to win at Combat Archery Tag!
1) Positioning

The first and foremost is to ensure that your bow and arrow are positioned in the correct manner. Many found it hard to balance their arrow when attempting to nock their bow; hence, affecting the way they shoot their arrows.
What you should do is, tilt the bow slightly at an angle to the right; this would enable the arrow the rest on the bow. Hence, providing it a steadier balance; enabling you to aim and shoot better.
2) Posture

The backbone of Combat Archery technique is correct shooting posture. Having a correct posture helps your body work more efficiently with your bow, thus enabling you to shoot with better accuracy.
Torso: Should be straight up, with the collar bone parallel to the arrow. Your hips should not be bent forward or backward, into or away from the bow; the same applies to your torso.
Head: Should be held straight up with your chin level to the ground. In this position, turn your face downrange; your head is now positioned properly.
Shoulders: The shoulder of your release arm should naturally fall into position when your lower arm and elbow are properly placed. On the other hand, the shoulder of your bow’s arm should be in a natural position; it is more prone to manipulations and inconsistencies.
Elbow and Lower Arm: The elbow of your release arm should be pointed away from the target, with the forearm parallel to the ground. On the other hand, the elbow of your bow arm should be pointed at an outward, slightly downward angle, away from the bow.
The elbow of the bow’s arm will have a slight bend when positioned correcly. Similarily, the bow hand will also position itself properly when the bow arm’s elbow is positioned correctly; the thumb will be at a rough 45-degree angle.
3) Masks

Although the game is 100% safe, it is always crucial to ensure that you are wearing the masks provided at all times. This is to prevent any possible accidents from occurring and ensure double security while having fun.
By wearing the masks, you can focus on the game and navigate your way around the playing arena without having to worry about getting shot in the face.
4) Holding a Draw

Many players tend to forget that in Combat Archery Tag uses traditional bows for its gameplay; unlike modern compound bows that use a gear and pulley system, designed to hold the weight for the user when at full draw.
With traditional bows, you are holding all the weight of the bow on your own. Thus, it won’t be long till your bow arm start to tire and shake; which is not ideal for aiming. Hence, one should not draw their bow until they are ready to shoot and won’t take long to aim at their target.
5) Hiding

While hiding behind the bunkers would help you avoid not getting shot, it would also not get you anywhere and you’ll be stuck at the same position throughout the entire game until someone decides to eliminate you.
It is recommended to run out of your hiding spot and try eliminating the opponents instead of just hiding behind the bunkers the whole time. This is because your opponents would most likely be doing the same thing too, so you should seize the opportunity and eliminate them first!
6) Aiming

When aiming, be sure to position your anchor point in a way where your arrow is pointed at your target, but tilted slightly upwards; this would give it some length to fly and thus striking your target.
Combat Archery Tag is a great way to have fun with your team while improving your coordination, stamina, strategy ,communications, and team bonding.
