The interior designs aren’t particularly impressive, especially not when compared to the building’s stunning exterior. Jia Wei is located on the second floor of Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy, which is a little hidden from the glitzy Chinese eateries in Singapore. Jia Wei is somewhat below the radar when compared to other restaurants on this list since it’s away from the bustle of Chinatown. The quality of the food is quite remarkable, and a visit is definitely necessary. Personally, it’s one of my favorite Chinese restaurants because it serves delicious food at a reasonable price.

Key Differentiators

  1. Peranakan flair interior design
  2. Affordable
  3. Remarkable Chinese cuisine

Client Testimonial

We had the seasonal hairy crab set and really enjoyed it! The serving staff informed us that we’d be served the soup as the crabs are being steamed. The crabs were big, sweet and juicy. The bonus was they were expertly dismantled just sufficiently for our enjoyment. While the dishes were not classic hairy crab ones served by other Chinese restaurants, the ones we had were full of flavour cos of the fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. To complement the yin of the hairy crabs, ginger tea and a ginger peach gum dessert were served.

Brought my parents for dim sum and we had the dim sum set. Most of the items were hits while just one or two were slightly too salty on the palette.

Food aside, the service from Benjamin & team was excellent. He kept us regularly updated about the status of food items, was very personable yet professional at the same time.

We greatly appreciate his attentiveness to us during our meal & our experience was made memorable because of the service rendered.

Thank you Benjamin & team!

This restaurant deserves 5 stars in every sense, starting from the food, super friendly service, the value for money and ambiance.

Although a small menu, but every item we ordered was so delicious. Acid test of a good dim sum chef is the Har Gaw – and they passed with flying colours – generous prawn springy prawn filling with Crystal thin skin. Another highlight is the Polo BBQ pork bun is the best I’ve tasted, meat is not too fatty, generous sweet char Siew to compliment the fluffy soft bun with crispy top – and it’s only $6 for three pieces. All in we ordered 6 dim sum with Chinese tea and appetiser, the total came up to $68.

This is a great place to come for Michelin worthy dim sum. Can’t wait to come back to try their ala carte menu.

The Peking Duck was roasted fantastically well. No gaminess in the fowl and all the fat were expertly removed. The wraps offered were also paper thin so it doesn’t fill you up when you eat more than a couple.

A very magical experience not only with the duck, but also the diced beef cubes and fried cod fish too. Service was great and attentive staff were very much appreciated.

Orchard Hotel Singapore’s signature restaurant, Hua Ting, has earned a solid reputation as one of Singapore’s best Cantonese fine dining restaurants since its inception in 1992. Some months ago, the news of its closure caused a lot of spirits to tremble, but at last, after a four-month remodel and an improved food menu, Hua Ting Restaurant is back with a more sophisticated appearance and cuisine to match.

Masterchef Chung Lap Fai is in control of this magnificent ship, and with his team of seasoned Chinese chefs, he presents a new cuisine—one that tries to pass down ancient tastes in a contemporary manner.

Smoked Peking Duck infused with Aged Pu-Erh served with Yuzu Sauce is a new addition to Hua Ting Restaurant’s menu. It’s one of those meals that’ll make you want it for days, aromatic, delicious, and full of everything you could ever ask for in a Peking duck dish (and more).

The Dong Xing Garoupa and Crispy Rice in Superior Stock are just two of the dishes that will sock your socks off. The Signature Baked Mango Chicken Tartlet, on the other hand, is truly wonderful and one-of-a-kind.

Long time no eat, still very good! Items are special and yet stays close enough to traditions for me. Missed out some photos as I ate them a little too quickly. The dim sum quartet were so cute that I could barely cut it, but too precious to gulp it down! Camphor tea smoke duck was also very tender and yummy. Deep fried bacon roll with enoki mushrooms and king prawns was equally pretty and tasty! Even the Po Luo Bao was pretty good!

Brought my parents here for dim sum with chope 30% off vouchers. The food are great. I like their stir fried carrot cake with xo sauce and salted egg custard bao . Their dim sum are simple and great too. The tea is expensive (3sgd per pax).

However do note that they have a rest time at 2.30 pm so try to come earlier before 2.30pm as it will be the last order before the restaurant take a break.

Stayed at the Duxton and ate here for dinner one night. Had two different soups (both good but their hot and sour soup was very very good), their signature roast duck (one of the best in town), a tofu dish (forgot the name but goes great with rice) and a simple vegetable (simple but cooked perfectly). We had white rice which came undercooked but we forgave them due to how good everything else was. Noisy and crowded but it was a Friday night so happy we opted for an early dinner. Our only bugbear were the crowds (good for the restaurant but a little worrisome for us in these COVID times). We would have gone back except for that. The duck is probably the best we’ve had in S’pore.

This is the one if you like mod-Sin. Po is a sleek environment with an authentic menu that adds a luxurious touch to Singaporean and Chinese classics. Consider Po’s trademark popiah. Its creamy filling is made by stewing and caramelizing it for hours, and it comes with plump prawns or hand-picked flower crab as garnish. The paper spring chicken, which is among the most popular dishes in Hong Kong, takes 45 minutes to prepare. Our advice is to pre-order this sharing favorite; however, you may also order seafood congee with Hokkaido scallops and littleneck clams.

Key Differentiators:

  1. Singaporean favourites and Chinese classics with a twist.
  2. Popiah is a signature dish in Po’s restaurant and a must try.
  3. Offers seafood congee with Hokkaido scallops.

Client Testimonial:

Excellent service in an intimate and classy Modern Chinese restaurant. The orders were very slow to come but when they did, they wowed us!

I love their rendition of the traditional “Yusheng”, so refreshing, spicy and piquant! Absolutely delicious and whets your appetite. The wagyu beef was tender and full of flavours. Another star dish was the braised goose feet with sea cucumbers, gelatinous and thick goose skin, so soft and so tender.

The service was excellent. The staff explained each dish and even suggest we get rice when he saw the food we ordered. Our tea and water cups were constantly kept full and the manager will occasionally come over to see what we needed.

Suggest to come for a long and relaxing lunch with close friends and family.
