Did you know that Muslims make up 14% of Singapore’s population? That is to say, you can never run out of fancy Halal restaurants to try in Singapore here, from new restaurants opting for the Halal food certification or a new Muslim-owned establishment bursting in popularity on Instagram. But, what does it mean for a restaurant to be ‘Halal’?

As defined by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS), ‘halal’ is an Arabic word that means lawful or allowable. Any food or drink that falls under this category is permitted for consumption by Muslims. Most food and drinks are considered Halal unless clearly stated in the Quran (the holy book of Islam) and Hadith (prophetic sayings) as forbidden or non-Halal.

Furthermore, the MUIS Halal certification is authorized by MUIS so it means that the restaurant guarantees that their food products, from the ingredients to preparation and even the beverages, are suitable for Muslims to consume according to Muslim laws. So, whether you are a Muslim seeking out new food places to try or planning a get-together with your Muslim friends, we’ve compiled a list of the best halal restaurants for you to try this year!

Note: As of writing this article, establishments are still confining to social distancing guidelines. Do exercise social responsibility when eating out in groups!

Key Consideration Factors

  • Service Quality: The service should be attentive and polite. The waitstaff should be knowledgeable about the menu and able to make recommendations.
  • Price: Make sure to comparison shop between the various restaurants, so you can secure the most beneficial discounts.
  • Reputation: When looking for a reliable restaurant, one with an established reputation is the best option. These shops often excel in customer service and utilize superior ingredients so that food is memorable.
  • Food Menu: A good restaurant menu should offer a variety of savory and sweet dishes, as well as a selection of drinks.
  • Reviews: Researching reviews from previous customers is a great way to evaluate the level of service, as well as comprehend if the restaurant can be trusted.
  • Quality of service: As you don’t want your dining experience to fail following a few days, you must assess the quality of ingredients used for the meals.

Really great place for Udon. I got to admit, I was initially skeptical about this restaurant as Udon restaurant may not be associated with being Halal. However, I am absolutely wrong.

Ordered the Burdock Tempura with a set B which comes with the chicken curry don and managed to swap the chicken for Inari Sushi.

Absolutely love it. The stock for the udon was fantastic. The Inari Sushi was the best I have tasted so far.

Love this place and will be back!
