Best cheese store in the east. You get a great selection of hard cheese and soft cheese. If you are looking for specific french cheeses such as the mimolette, you will likely find it here. Folks here have good knowledge of the items on sale, I highly recommend The Cheese Shop.

Who would’ve guessed that two of the best craft beverages in Singapore go so well together with Teochew dishes?

The 1925 Brewing Company serves contemporary Teochew cuisine with a nod to its own craft brews. Garlic fried rice with wagyu fat, crispy chicken cartilage, and other delectable dishes are on the menu.

Key Differentiators

  • Smooth creamy foam head
  • Originally brewed beer
  • Brewed primarily with the hops

Customer Testimonial

Always love the creative brews they have over at 1925 Brewing Co! Couldn’t remember any by name, but I know each time I’m there, there’ll always be something new to try! 🙂

And who knew, they serve fantastic food there as well!! The duck and fish dishes that we ordered were so delicious, me and my partner contemplated for so long whether we should order another portion haha!

Looking forward to the next visit, to try something new up their sleeves again! ^^

What’s better than ice cream? On East Coast Road, there is a gelato shop that sells super-smooth gelato, that is guaranteed made fresh daily.

What sets them apart, though, is their wide selection of distinct tastes – the gelato here is made with natural and botanical components like basil and blue ginger and is influenced by Southeast Asian palates, resulting in a refreshing gelato experience with fragrances that are familiar.

With its pandan-flavored gelato, you can get the real flavor of Singapore!

Key Differentiators

  • Finest quality
  • Inspired by the botanical flavours of nature
  • Own range of signature flavours

Customer Testimonial

Pretty good. Basil and strawberry was well balanced. Vanilla and fig was on the sweeter side. Pandan was good too. No inside dining (Covid rules), so had to eat outside. But lots of other ice cream folk with us for company.

Take on the Lower East Side’s utmost taco hotness challenge, at the risk of your taste buds (yes, that spicy). We’re intrigued by this Mexican restaurant, which hand-pickles its chilies, provides a variety of unique salsas and guacamole, and even has homemade churros on the menu.

Key Differentiators

  • Mexican-Inspired concept
  • Airy and rustic
  • Spicy Mexican fusion food
  • Craft beer

Customer Testimonial

One of the better Mexican food around!
Various promos are also great!

The restaurant is located within the Joo Chiat Police Station, which was formerly the Joo Chiat Police Station. The building retains much of its 1920s colonial charm.

The modest restaurant is off the lobby and has a couch with slender tables for two. The dimly lit area comes alive with brightly painted walls, giving it an airy feel. Standout dishes include the chicken buah keluak burger, beef short rib rendang, and assam curry mackerel soup.

Key Differentiators

  • Western comfort dishes
  • Vibrant modern color palette
  • Natural light
  • Locally influenced design and decor

Customer Testimonial

I like the ambience – spacious, clean, bright and the nice wooden furniture. Service was top notch – extremely friendly, attentive and professional. Menu contained mainly fusion items, which was pretty exciting but the chendol was innovation getting out of control. Price was reasonable too. This place appears to be popular among families.

In 2009, true-blue Americans opened this restaurant and its meats are smoked in handcrafted smokers utilizing a one-of-a-kind combination of hickory and mesquite wood chips. Baby back pork ribs and buffalo wings are two of the best main courses on the menu.

On Wednesdays, the wings are $1 each – order a half dozen to get them all!

Key Differentiators

  • Friendly Service
  • Original Recipes
  • Convenient Location

Customer Testimonial

Go on Thursdays for their $10 burgers (update, now it’s $12) that comes served with fries and happy hour all day! Baby back ribs were not too shabby though my dining companion thinks they were a touch tough. Corn bread was a surprise. Fries were great, onion rings a lil too greasy for me though my companion thinks otherwise. Real onion rings :p

Overall, will be back for sure. Service was excellent too.

P.s $1 buffalo wings on Wednesdays!

Operating HoursWeekdays: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Weekends: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Long Phung is a name that comes up when it comes to Vietnam cuisine in Singapore. With its modest, yet flavorful selection of classic Vietnamese foods, the restaurant transports you to Ho Chi Minh’s bustling eateries.

The pho tai is a winner for us, with the flavorful broth and glassy noodles, which are very chewy. It’s proper down-home cooking.

Key Differentiators

  • Available in Foodpanda and Grab
  • Offer island wide delivery with no min spending
  • Self collection available

Customer Testimonial

One of the most authentic Vietnamese food stores in Singapore. There are many food options on the menu. Recommend – beef stew with bread. The price is reasonable and definitely worth the journey to go there.

Singapore’s pervasiveness of prata eateries makes it difficult to determine our country’s top. Mr and Mrs Moghan, on the other hand, comes pretty close.

Mr and Mrs Moghan, who run a coffee shop in Goa’s Anjuna Beach, have been working their magic for more than 30 years, specializing in what they call a “super crispy prata,” which is skillet-cooked to produce a crispy outer shell and fluffy interior.

Key Differentiators

  • Crispy Roti Prata
  • Local favorite
  • Highly raved upon

Customer Testimonial

Finally after 3 attempts to try their prata! Even then, waited for almost 45 mins for the prata. It was certainly one of best prata around. It’s crispy and tasty even on its own.

The fish gravy was so so though. What really was the icing on the “prata” was the sambal chilli. It’s a little spicy and goes well with the crispy prata!

And despite their busyness, Mrs Mohgan was still friendly.

10. Hjh Maimunah

Address20 Joo Chiat Rd, Singapore 427357
Websitehttps://www.hjmaimunah.com/

Operating HoursTuesday to Sunday: 8AM–8PM

Hjh Maimunah, a name that covers several of Singapore’s most well-known nasi padang, is on the Bib Gourmand list of the Michelin Guide, and for good reason.

The restaurant’s menu reflects the diversity of the farm and its surrounding region, with locally sourced components adding to the local flavor. Regional ingredients enhance the eatery’s localized identity while also providing extra richness to some of its most popular dishes, such as the wonderfully charred meats cooked on a charcoal grill.

Key Differentiators

  • Mouth-watering traditional Kuihs and Desserts
  • Fine selection of Signature Dishes
  • Daily meals, functions and events

Customer Testimonial

Passed by this place for years and always wondered what the queue is about. I understand now!

First, it’s air-conditioned to stay cool despite the spicy food . Next, the varieties are crazy. There are probably 50 different kind of dishes to choose from. Talking about spoilt for choices. Lastly, the flavours are as good as its prices. As the saying goes, cheap and good! Very good especially with the sambal chilli.

I’ll be back
